Haemers Technologies at NICOLA 2026

Come and meet us at the NICOLA Annual Conference 2026, at Skukuza Safari Lodge in the heart of the Kruger National Park, South Africa, on 28–29 October 2026.

NICOLA, the Network for Industrially Contaminated Land in Africa, brings together experts from industry and mining, academia, regulators and environmental service providers to advance a science-based, sustainable best practice framework for identifying, assessing and managing contaminated land in Africa. This year's theme is Connecting Knowledge to Action | Managing Risk & Delivering Sustainable Remedial End Points.

As a specialist in thermal remediation technologies for contaminated soils and groundwater, Haemers Technologies brings more than 25 years of international field experience to this year's discussions. Learn how thermal desorption works.

We look forward to meeting professionals from across Africa, exchanging knowledge, and discussing future collaboration opportunities.

Our Scientific Contribution

Haemers Technologies has been selected to deliver a platform presentation during the scientific programme of the NICOLA 2026 Annual Conference.

We will share field experience from the ex-situ thermal treatment of heavy hydrocarbon-contaminated soil at a remote oil field in South Sudan: engineering design adaptations, treatment results and lessons learned from operating in remote locations.

Our team will be available throughout the conference to discuss site-specific conditions, feasibility, treatment options for contaminated soil and groundwater.

Our presentation

Date and time will be published once the official conference programme is released.

Ex-situ Thermal Treatment of Heavy Oils at a Remote Oil Field in South Sudan

Presented by Erwan Goulian, Customer Success Manager

Pilot ex-situ thermal desorption of soils contaminated with heavy C10–C40 hydrocarbons: over 99.9% pollutant mass reduction in 50 days, on-site vapour treatment, and lessons learned from operating in a remote location.
